US Investment in Broadband Infrastructure
The federal government is currently investing over $65 billion in order to improve broadband infrastructure all across the country. Another $42 billion investment was just announced in June to connect every resident and small business to reliable, affordable high-speed internet by 2030. Awards for all states range from $27 million to over $3.3 Billion, with every state receiving a minimum of $107 million. This investment will help close the digital divide and provide access to high-speed internet to millions of Americans who currently lack it. The investment continues to pour into improving existing network infrastructure and rural footprints. The goal is to provide access to broadband for those who don’t have it in order to increase economic opportunity, improve education, and enhance public network services.
